Sums Up the Mood Around Here

AGP has been sick for over a week!
Christmas came and went!!
 ~ and left a mess in it's path ~
I have said for 2  days that I am going to pack up Christmas.
Well, it's still out!
{see proof below}

I did a bit of blog reading today and I borrowed this from Clover Lane!

An Erma Bombeck Column:

A young mother writes: "I know you've written before about the empty-nest syndrome -- that lonely period after the children are grown and gone. Right now, I'm up to my eyeballs in laundry and muddy boots. The baby is teething; the boys are fighting. My husband just called and said to eat without him, and I fell off my diet. Lay it on me again, will you?"

OK.

One of these days, you'll shout, "Why don't you kids grow up and act your age!"
And they will.

Or, "You guys get outside and find yourselves something to do ... and don't slam the door!"
And they won't.

You'll straighten up the boys' bedroom neat and tidy -- bumper stickers discarded, bedspread tucked and smooth, toys displayed on the shelves. Hangers in the closet. Animals caged. And you'll say out loud, "Now I want it to stay this way."
And it will.

You'll prepare a perfect dinner with a salad that hasn't been picked to death and a cake with no finger traces in the icing, and you'll say, "Now, there's a meal for company."
And you'll eat it alone.

You'll say: "I want complete privacy on the phone. No dancing around. No demolition crews. Silence! Do you hear?"
And you'll have it.

No more plastic tablecloths stained with spaghetti.
No more bedspreads to protect the sofa from damp bottoms.
No more gates to stumble over at the top of the basement steps.
No more clothespins under the sofa.
No more playpens to arrange a room around.
No more anxious nights under a vaporizer tent.
No more sand on the sheets or Popeye movies in the bathrooms.
No more iron-on patches, wet, knotted shoestrings, tight boots, or rubber bands for ponytails.

Imagine. A lipstick with a point on it.
No baby sitter for New Year's Eve.
Washing only once a week.
Seeing a steak that isn't ground.
Having your teeth cleaned without a baby on your lap.
No PTA meetings.
No car pools.
No blaring radios.
No one washing her hair at 11 o'clock at night.
Having your own roll of Scotch tape.

Think about it. No more Christmas presents out of toothpicks and library paste.
No more sloppy oatmeal kisses.
No more tooth fairy.
No giggles in the dark.
No knees to heal, no responsibility.

Only a voice crying, "Why don't you grow up?"
and the silence echoing, "I did."

I will smile and keep my mess for a little while longer!

AGP and Belle with "the Kindle"

AGP loves to read!
She was thrilled when she found a "children's Kindle just like Papa's!"
The excitement continued when Nanna and Grandaddy sent her a PINK one for Christmas!

So excited in fact, AGP let Belle come read and play on her kindle too!

Rara made the Belle costume to go along with AGP's vivid imagination and flare for the dramatics!

Christmas

AGP was nestled all snug in her bed,
while visions of princesses, princess, and spiders danced in her head!

Cinderella's Castle with all the royal occupants appeared!

Let the party get started!
Dancing to the tunes from Disney is what AGP will be doing in 2011.

Pink and purple are AGP's favorite colors.
Ladybugs are her favorite of all insects.
Singing and dancing in the rain her two of her favorite past times.
So, what else did she get but a complete rain ensemble!

As The Worlds Turns ~

Monday before Christmas {remember the trip to see the mermaids} it was strep.
We took our amoxicilin like good patients and we feeling good for Christmas!
{yes, WE, Momma ended up with it too!}
Day 3, a "hivish" like rash started. Antibiotics changed to Keflex.
Took those like a big girl - see how Christmas Day started...

And as the day went on, the worse I felt.
The fever came back, and so did the itching!

Back to doctor on Sunday for fever, rash, itching, and general feeling lousy.
Changed to a 3rd antibiotic for strep and ear infection {not one complaint about an ear ache}
No sleep and rash worsened throughout the night. MISERABLE!
So Monday, we went back again!

Dr. Glaze was back! He swapped us to a 4th antibiotic, a sulfa family this time.
Let's see what happens next...

Can I catch a break?
Please?

Merry Mermaids!

If you look close enough you can see mermaids and a very sick little girl!
We took AGP to the Georgia Aquarium to see the mermaids form Weeki Wachi.
She started feeling bad {very bad} on the drive.
We went ahead to see mermaids, thinking some time out of the car would help her tummy!

She was mesmerized by the performance.
{So was John.}

FYI ~ strep throat hits fast and hard without warning!
We do have antibiotics and the doctor's prognosis is that AGP will be well for Santa!

Teddy Bear Tea {part deux}

John took AGP to the Teddy Bear Tea at the Hotel and Conference Center again this year.
Of course, AGP adds her own flair and takes a bunny and not a teddy bear!

AGP loves a good book!

Apparently, she LOVED the gingerbread man cookies!

I mean - LOVED them!

LOVE, LOVE, and MORE LOVE

I don't think these even need words...

My heart is overflowing with joy and love!

Handmade Ornaments

I stuck to my promise - no homemade ornaments on my tree!
As adorable as they are, I could not put them on the big tree.
So, AGP has a pink tree in her room and a silver tree in the dining room.
The silver tree is filled with everything she made at Indian Pines this month!

Caroling on the Porch

What is sweeter than 3, 4, and 5 year olds singing Christmas songs?
NOTHING, absolutely nothing on Earth!

I think AGP had as much fun singing as we did watching and listening!

Look at the faces!
These little ones are full of personality and joy!!

Thank you, Miss Weiss,
Mrs. Nappier, and the entire staff of Indian Pines Country Day School!!
The greatest place on Earth!

THE Paperwork!

What a year!
{13 - 0}
This year feels even better than 1993 and 2004!
Undefeated, SEC Champs,
National Championship Game,
and another possible Heisman Trophy!
It's Great to be an Auburn Tiger!!!
AGP has the tradition down! She knows - cheap toilet paper to throw in the trees!
Papa and AGP met me at Toomer's Corner after the SEC Championship game.
I watched the game at the new Auburn Arena while they went to the Montgomery Zoo.

We celebrated the win with a few friends!

AGP loves throwing toilet paper in trees.
She doesn't understand why everybody doesn't do it after they win a football game!

AGP and all the "snow" in downtown Auburn!
She kept picking it up and rolling me!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree {I hope you survive}

I know. I know.
Everyone wants Disney pictures!
We took 488 pictures in 4 days ~ no time to sort through them.
I promise a proper Disney post or 3 soon.
We returned form Disney in time for Thanksgiving,
the Iron Bowl, and
the SEC Championship game.
WAR EAGLE!!!
We have finally decorated the house for Christmas.
It was done in stages this year ~
thanks to essays, research papers, and Auburn football!
AGP has all hands on decorating this year!
She wanted all the ornaments at the bottom until
~ the step ladder appeared.
Then AGP changed her tune ~
All ornaments on top!
It was fun!
She would place an ornament, turn her back, and I moved it!
The process lasted for a while and she never caught me!
Papa ran great interference!
AGP is ready for Santa!!
Too bad that list for Santa is fluid and a secret.
{since she hasn't been able to TELL Santa what she wants!}
